Clean The House And Clear Clutter

How often has one looked around their house, or walked into someone else’s, and seen things such as books, papers or other things tossed here and there? That is called a mess or clutter. So the question is, “How can one clear clutter?”

Most people have things they hold dear to the heart, it may be a book or something from their childhood. This is fine, but everything needs to have a place of its own. There are questions to ask when starting to clean up a mess. They are “Do I want to keep this? Do I need this now? Will I need this soon? Is this something that I want to part with?” When these questions are answered one can begin.

Starting with the bedroom closet which seems to be the culprit in many cases. If one is honest and asks themselves if they have worn something within the past year and finds they have not it needs to go. If there are 30 blouses, sweat shirts or T-shirts, think how many days it would take to even wear one each day.

Even if something  looks like new and looks terrific, if it has not been worn it probably will not be and should be removed. By doing this, with every garment or pair of shoes, it is possible to reduce closet space tremendously. These need to be removed and given to a friend or given to a non-profit for someone who is really needy.

For general, overall appearance, one must get in the habit of disposing or putting things away the minute they are done with. In other words, the newspaper has been read, rather than dropping it on the couch or a table immediately put it in the recycle box or where it is disposed of. Doing the same with other things, putting them away when done, will solve the problem of that kind of clutter. If there is something that simply must be kept but is not used, box it up and store it in the attic or garage but, mainly, get it out of sight so as to clear clutter throughout the house.
