Has clutter taken over your home and your life? Does every attempt to declutter gets defeated because it keeps showing up out of the blue? How did all this stuff get here in the first place? Well the obvious answer to that question is someone had to bring it in. Cluttering is a bad habit, and the only way to conquer is to learn a new habit. There are three important question you must ask yourself daily to conquer clutter for good.
Conquer clutter by asking these questions before anything new comes into your home, aside from the essentials such as food. Answer this question “what will this replace?” Generally speaking when we buy or bring something new in our homes it is to replace something we currently own. The old thing is broken, doesn’t work as good as it should, or the new item offers something in addition to. In any case, when you bring something new in, the rule of thumb is that the old one goes out. Now for the next question for keeping clutter at it’s minimum.
Is this a want or a need ? The question conquers clutter by determining whether the item serves as a want or a need. Your possessions should be down to the necessities if you truly want to conquer clutter. Try waiting 30 before purchasing something new to see if you feel the same way about it. You might find it’s not such a priority, as it once was. Ready for the final question?
The final question to conquer clutter is, will this have a home? Do you have place to put this? If the answer is no, then it’s a no-go. You must decide before bringing anything new into your home where it will live.
Ask and answer these 3 questions every time you are considering bringing something new into your home. What will this replace? Do I need or want this? Where will I put this? Providing answers to these questions you will conquer clutter and create a positive habit.
