How tough is it for you to find the out of season clothing, decorations when you are preparing to enter the new season? It’s a battle for most people. One way to ultimately master household organization is to create a storage plan for the seasonal items. If you like to prepare in advance for Christmas time, you probably buy Christmas cards, gift wrapping and etc. after the season is over. This post will share how to create a storage plan for household organization.
The first step for creating a storage plan for household organization is to inventory all of the items that need to be stored away. Walk throughout your home with a notebook and pen, write down every item that is out of season. This process will take about an hour or two dependent on how much stuff you have and the size of your family. Now we need to figure out where to store this stuff.
The next for household organization for the storage plan is to designate a storage area. Take stock of your home. If you have am attic, basement, or garage these spots are ideal. On the other hand if there is no room in these areas, or these spaces don’t exist in your home, then look for any open spaces such as closets, under the bed, shelves in the closet. Write down the storage space, or spaces which are suitable for storage.
It is now time to start packing up your items for household organization. Categorize the items in a manner that work best for you. Let’s say you have two children, Johnny and Jack, you may want to separate their clothing to eliminate confusion later. Once the items are grouped together, you are ready to pack them up. Don’t forget to label the boxes.
Finalize the storage plan to maintain household organization. Create a list of the boxed items and where the items are stored. For instance, Johnny’s winter clothes are stored under his bed and Jack’s are stored on a shelf in his closet. Once the list has been completed, type it up, print and save on the computer. File the list in a place to reference as needed.
Congratulations you are now ready to create a storage plan to maintain household organization. When a new season, just rinse and repeat. One last tip, as new things are added to the storage, or the storage spaces change: make sure to edit your list. Preparing for the next season will no longer be a battle, once the plan has been put it into place.
