It’s time for me to come out of the closet… I have one cluttering weakness (well maybe two.) Pictures are the worst for me to put away. A box of photos sat on my bookshelf for the longest time awaiting for me to do something with them. How to organize clutter, the sentimental stuff, is a weakness for me as I sort through and relive those memories. I’ll share a method I’ve used to organize the sentimental clutter.
Find an empty cardboard box and purchase a photo box storage container. Buy additional ones as needed. Label the cardboard box as photos to be organized. Gather all of your pictures that aren’t stored away appropriately in albums or scrapbooks. Place them into the cardboard box. You are now learning how to organize clutter.
Take 15 minutes daily to organize until the box is uncluttered. Use a timer if necessary. Group the pictures by subject. A subject might be family vacation. Once the photos are grouped together by subject. It might be useful to use note cards to separate the subjects for when you come to organizing. It’s time to move onto the second step to master how to organize clutter.
You can now toss out the following photos which only clutter up your space in your photo box/ These are the following pictures.
people whom you don’t recognize
bad quality
ones that leave you feeling bad
Label the grouped and sorted photos by subject using note cards or placing them in individual photo boxes.
Organizing the sentimental clutter becomes less daunting by using this method. Follow these steps: boxes to separate, gather photos, take 15 minutes a day to sort, group and label. Once these steps have been taken, you’ve just learned how to organize clutter.
