Reducing Clutter: The 4 Most Effective Strategies

Posted by Admin in clear clutter

Are you in desperate need of reducing clutter?  Everyday we clutter keeps showing up in our homes, on our floors,  mail and email.  If we don’t take action immediately there could be heck  to pay.   We will learn four of the most effective strategies for keeping clutter to a bare minimum by:  pitching it, new one in…two old out rule, a place for everything and everything in it’s place, and establishing routines. These tips will teach you to master reducing clutter in your home.
Pitching clutter is one of the most dramatic ways for reducing clutter.   For instance, you receive junk mail, immediately toss it in the trash can, without any second thought.   Practicing this strategy multiple times throughout your day makes a incredible difference in your home.     The next method follows along the same path as this.

One new thing in, two old things out is a new rule to establish in your home ASAP.  This reduces the accumulation of clutter.   Let’s say you enjoy shopping, you find an outstanding  bargain on plastic storage containers, for each one of those items, you throw two out.  This reinforces you to declutter on a regular basis, and may even have you shopping less. For those of you whom are therapeutic shoppers this is a tip to implement immediately for reducing clutter.  Follow one new in, one old out for the next thirty days and see the difference it makes.  Now let’s learn about designating a home.

A place for everything, and everything in it’s place establishes a sense of orderliness.   For each possession you have in your home, designate a place for it.   The spot for these items should make sense…dirty laundry goes in the hamper, silverware in the silverware drawer…etc.      After creating order in your home, now we can move onto the final step, by establishing routines.

Establishing routines for reducing clutter assists you keeping the messes under control.    Everyday practice pitching, the new one in..two old out, and putting things back where they belong.  If you happen to fall off the wagon one day, just jump back on the next.  It takes some solid discipline to create a new habit.

These four ways for reducing  clutter will create space, freeing from the bogged down feeling.   Practice pitching it once it is in your hands.  Bringing home one new item, two old things out frees up the dead space.   Putting things back in their place immediately.   Establishing a daily routine with the previous tips will free you of the desperation clutter causes.
